A familiar scene the world over .....

Demonstrators rally outside the Secretariat building in the state capital of Trivandrum to protest against the privatisation of services, the erosion of terms and conditions, and all the other ills of public sector employment.

Good luck to them.

KERALA CALM

Alleppy's canals lead out into an enormous expanse of backwater at the eastern end of the city. Here, houseboats are moored side by side for as far as the eye can see.

The Chinese fishing nets at Cochin remain amongst the most iconic images of Kerala.

Phespirit watched dolphins arching through the waves as he stood on this shore.

It is an exotic place.
